Divine Power

Equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.  Hebrews 13:21

All of the word of God is wondrous, and the Holy Spirit always stays ready to illuminate it to the child of God.

We are thankful, gracious to God for letting us know that we cant do anything without Christ. That means knowing Christ, having an intimate relationship with him. Jesus asked those around him when when he walked around Jerusalem and he asks all of us today: "why do you call me Lord Lord and dont do what I say."

How can we claim that we know Christ and are not concerning about doing what he commands. This is vitally important because Christ says it is an indication of you are on your way to heaven or not.  In Matthew 7:21 Jesus says: "Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

Obedience to the word of God is on the checklist of those who would attempt to enter heaven. In fact, it is the only way we can have assurance that we are on our way to heaven. We need to stop, turn around, and see if we have obedience in our Christian walk. Not 100% obedience we cant do that this side of glory, but we must have some. I think this is one of the points that has been kicked out of a lot of Churches in our generation. You cant preach holiness, you cant preach the grace that saves you , that same grace leads you to desire and hunger for holiness. We kicked those preachers out of the Church. Preaching today has become entertainment and salvation or joining the Church is based on what is called "cheap grace" and cheap grace does not proclaim that without holiness you will not see God.

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, throught the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. (2 Peter 1:3-4)

God has granted us his divine power on our behalf, so we can live godly lives. God's power or grace is sufficient.  We need to read the word of God to discover those great and precious promises and trust in them, make them our prayers and live out our lives based on them. God's power is available for us to do it.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age. (Titus 2:11-12)

If you are saved by grace through faith, than that same grace that saved you trains you to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, it trains you to do it. It is a process, but these things are given for us to self-examine ourselves, to see if we are indeed in the faith. That same grace also trains you to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this age, not just when you get to heaven , but today. We have the word of God to guide us, convict us, and show us what Christ requires of us, to ignore it is to our peril.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)
To hear the word of God and not do it leads to self-deception. We have strong enemies against our walk to purity, to holiness, Satan wants to stop you from going that way, because he knows that Gods word says: "but know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself, the LORD hears when I call to him. (Psalm 4:3) When you are trying to live holy, you are readinig the Word, your are praying, you are watchful and alert, and you and the Triune God are close. Satan doesnt want that, but there is nothing he can do to stop you if you keep relying on that divine power. Another enemy is the world, the world doesnt want to hear about holiness, the attitude of the world is ungodliness, it doesnt call it that, it calls it having a little fun, fitting in with the in-crowd, not wanting to appear as someone that isnt cool, but the truth of the matter all of that is going to hell. You can not love the world and love God. It's hard because it seems like everyone is caught up in that spirit, and most are, but, have faith in God, trust in that divine power that has been granted to you by God. The last enemy is your old man, the you you were before you were saved, that man cant understand spiritual things and doesnt want to, it is under the judgment of God and unless you strave it, kill it, it will kill you. You need to feed the new man, the word of God, you need to hide the word of God in your heart so that you do not sin against God. Lean on the divine power, pray, met each day with gratitude and praise, beseeching God for his power to live a life that is pleasing to him. Read His Holy Word today and every day.
