Psalms: Love

One of the most predominant themes of not only the book of Psalms but the whole Bible is that of steadfast love. The Bible says that God is love. (1 John 4:16) To be described as love is amazing. Do you know anyone you would describe as love?

Psalm 5:7 But I through the abundance of your steadfast love, and enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.

Psalm 6:4 Turn, O Lord, deliver my life: save me for the sake of your steadfast love.

Deuteronomy 5:10 But showing steadfast love to thousands of those  who love  me and keep my commandments.

Psalm 32:10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in
the LORD.

We can get a sense of what Scripture is trying to convey to us of the steadfast love of God. We see Scripture is telling us that it is God's love for us that causes Him to save us and lead us into eternal worship of Him and Him alone.

It tells us that the wicked have many sorrows, but God's love, His peace surrounds all those who trusts in Him. It is not saying that the godly do not go through suffering, it is saying that God's steadfast love is always there, bringing peace in the midst of the storm, comfort through the storms of life.

Lets close this study looking at 1 John 4:16 : So we have come to know and to believe  the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

We must come to the point of believing that the invisible Spirit identified by the Bible as the only living and true God is indeed the Creator and Lover of our souls. We come to believe that God is God by first of all, trusting in Jesus Christ (by the faith that God gives us). Then as we read and pray and worship Him, His Spirit testifies to our spirit that we are sons of God.

Once we experience God steadfast love we trust His Word. One of the most important things for this generation and the next is that we must look to God's Word as the final authority on all things dealing with proper worship of the True God. We must realize that the overarching theme of the New Testament is to correct improper worship in the Churches, Paul's letters were to correct the churches from false worship. Read them for yourself, know for yourself. Take the word of God as your final authority.

The God who has created the universe, who holds it up, who gives us life, breath and being, has expressed His power in His Word, we don't need new man made techniques (which are not new). Look to His Word and only His Word, judge everything by it.

Blessings in Christ.
