Today - For Eternity

Looking in Heaven we see this:

"Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. They shall hunger no more, neither thrist any more; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living waters, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." (Revelation 7:15-17)

We live in a culture that has everything geared to keep you from meditating on the Word of God. We are chasing many things that in the hindsight of eternity will have absolutely no value, worth or meaning. We will look back from eternity and wonder why? Why did I spend so much precious time involved with this or that. When there is one thing that really matters, the one thing that we must find and follow after. The one thing that we must spend heartfelt minutes, hours, contempleting and examining ourselves with.
Eternity is of vital importance, where we will spend it. Nothing that human beings spend their time on,  is more important than that.

Christians will find the time to read and contemplate the word of God because:

Ezekiel 36:25-27 states "I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you, And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

God's word does not fail or lie, so those that are his will obey, the Spirit is within to bring it about, the Spirit is all powerful. Thats why reading the word is important. We need to get in our hearts visions of heaven, like (Revelation 7:15-17) above. We need to put the Word in our hearts. As we go through our lives, which are just a vapor, they are so short. We are involved in a struggle, spiritual warfare. We need strength outside of ourselves to keep us, and that is the Spirit of God, our helper. We need to find out that as we go through today, we should take time to contemplate eternity also. We need to go to the book of Revelation and look around the throne of God and see the great saints who are there, who God has crowned and see them cast their crowns down to the One who sits on the throne, because they know that it was Him who kept them in their struggle, in their fight with sin, they know that he truly never left them nor forsook them. They know more of the details of his love, mercy, and grace toward them. So they give back to him, what he rewards them with, for their faithfulness, for it was truly his faithfulness that kept them and is also keeping us today. We need to Look at the wonderous sight in revelation, there we see the living creatures proclaiming praises to God day and night, never ceasing to say "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"

That has to be in our hearts today.....for all eternity. Find help for today in the word of God. Pray for each other, that we are consummed by the heavenly vision....today

Scripture quotations are taken from the Holy Bible, English Standard Version.

  1. I have recently been during a bible study on Armor of God and this just hits home. I think we so often forget that we are involved in a spiritual battle and because we don't think about it we are so prone to fall into some temptation because we are unaware of the evil one and his techniques (which is exactely where he wants us). We need to pray on God's armor piece by piece before we get out of bed each morning to start our day fully prepared.(Eph 6:10-17 ).
